Asset Recycling with Public Trust

The government has embarked on a programme of asset recycling or asset monetisation. There are various ways in which this can be done. I argue that of all the templates available, the government would be well suited to choose models that maximise public trust. I further suggest that the infrastructure investment trust (InvIT) model is best suited to do this as it potentially brings in a wide pool of investors and is well regulated, with high standards of disclosure applying to it.
